    Default Suggestions for Aftershave/Cologne

    Hi, All,
Here's the deal. I tried several blades until I found a favorite, and several brushes until a favorite finally emerged. By choice, I shave only with that razor and brush. (I guess I'm just a one leather jacket, one razor/brush, one etc., kind of guy.) I know this might seem wierd to you razor rotation dudes!
Anyway, variety during my shaving ritual comes from different soaps and aftershaves.
What I'm looking for are additional aftershaves that have quality skin-care ingredients AND scents that last most of the day. It seems the new products are interested in only scents.
Products that say just "aftershave" on the label may smell great initially, but the scent fades quickly.
I did find one product that said both "aftershave and cologne" on the label. "Aqua Velva Musk Aftershave and Cologne" is exactly the type of product I am looking for: necessary aftershave ingredients with a wonderful scent that lasts all day (thus the "cologne" part).
(I did find at classicshaving.com a Clubman Pinaud "Special Reserve" that had the words "aftershave" and "cologne" on the label. Has anyone tried that?)
I'd like to expand my repertory of long-lasting, quality ingredients- aftershaves.
    Any suggestions out there?
Thanks in advance. I appreciate it!
    Ron

I think you'll find if you want something that actually does something positive to your skin the balms and natural based aftershaves have little lasting scent. If you want some thing that lingers you need to go with one of those designer type conncoctions made of alcohol water and scent. Try some bay rum pinaud has it also dominica.

One of my favorites for a while has been Aqua Velva Blue. It's got a nice cool feel, great scent, and I for some reason it good at preventing ingrown hairs.

I sometimes use lavender facial lotion from Bath and Body works after a shave and it works pretty well moisturizing my face.
But I think my favorite after shave is Aspen which is alcohol based, but it doesn't dry my skin out. I'm waiting til I finish it up before springing for the Pinaud Bay Rum.

Pinuad Clubman and Bay Rum is a good bet. Tabac a/s lasts a long time. DR Harris sandalwood a/s does ok on longevity and has decent moisturizing qualities. Try a bunch and see what works. I'm in that process now too.

I have also been looking for aftershave nirvana, and have come to the conclusion that the modern aftershaves are no more or less caring then the older style ones. In fact my favorite from a skin care point of view is a very modern designer fragrance by Paco Rabanne called Black XS. It is my only aftershave that I can use without having to do any moisturising afterwards, and smells great the whole day IMO (and the girlfriends ).

I like aqua velva blue (walgreens) also. Did he mention it is cheap. I like the smell of cheap.

I love the CA Dominica Bay Rum. I have others (including the Pinaud Clubman) that I use on occasion but I use the CA about 65% of the time.

I tend to use an aftershave and cologne/EDT in combination. You are correct stating that aftershave scents don't last very long, and it appears they were never meant to. ASBs or ASMs are really designed to help soothe and repair the skin from shaving. Typically I will pair a after-shave and cologne of the same scent (like a Penhaligon's). Other times I will try to match up scents that layer well (Musgo Real AS splash and T&H cologne for example).

    Experiment.

You can use the Proraso pre/after shave. It's fairly neutral so you can use any cologne/edt on top of it and the minty blast can't be beat
