Maybe it depends on which bay rum you use. I have Kramperts Bay Rum Acadian Spice and vintage Avon Bay Rum neither light up my face.

I've never used any or those but if you grabbed a bottle of clubman !'m sure that it would be a wonderful and different bay rum experience for you Bob.

I have Barberry Coast Bay Rum and it sets me on fire. I've only used it twice. Even after several hours, my face is still irritated...

That could quite easily be but then again who would want that experience if it is like yours. I don't really care for the bay rum scent of either of the two I have.

Maybe it's a sensitivity to the cinnamon and clove is the mix?

That's what I attributing the burning from bay rums for me, anyway.
