Interested in some balm/oil?
Hey guys, so I got to thinking, these balms and beard moisturizing oils seem to be pretty expensive. Yet they're made with relatively inexpensive ingredients. So, since I'm in the market for one, I figured I'd start tallying up how much it'd cost to start up making my own mixes.
I used to own a business making juice for electronic cigarettes so I have a couple gallons of glycerin stored away. I also happen to have a ton of 30mL glass dropper bottles left over and mixing equipment. So I've sourced a dozen or so carrier oils, and a equal amount of essential oils. All together for maybe 150$ or so I can produce around 60 fl. oz of custom beard oils of any possible combination of scents and carrier oils.
I'd be willing to hook anyone interested up with a 30mL bottle of their choice of carrier oil mix ratio (the sky is the limit, I can mix down to 1/100th of a mL) and scent strength. But, before I go spending a pretty penny to get all the oils I'd like to know how many people would be interested in buying a bottle. I would of course sell them at a very reasonable price. I'm by no means trying to get rich off this. Aside from the cost of ingredients, I would only charge for shipping and a couple bucks for my time.
I'd like to offer a highly customizable high quality product made by a consumer, for consumers, at a reasonable price. What's not to like?
If you're interested please leave a comment below so I can get a head count to see if this is worth delving into.
If you have any questions or comments feel free to leave them below. I'll list all the oils I've sourced so far if you guy's show some interest.
Thanks!
-Sunny
(Note to mods- I am not currently selling/offering anything for sale. I am simply trying to get a head count to see if the venture is worthwhile.)Last edited by Sunshine1; 02-08-2016 at 12:39 AM.

is this meant to be a pre-shave or aftershave product?

It has multipurposes. It could be used to both soften facial hair and skin. You could use it pre-shave or post shave.

Sounds like you're starting a business. Sounds like a great idea. Preshave oils and beard oils are some of the most overpriced products out there in my opinion. I've purchased several different carrier oils and essential oils myself and you can literally produce 10x the amount for the same price if you do it yourself. Good luck, I'm sure you'll find some interested people.

As far as pre shave goes, Noxema does everything you need at a very small price, preps your beard and leaves the face feeling pretty good, for the irritation if your shave is a little off, I've tryed plenty of oils and it didn't do anything the Nixema didn't do at 4 $ a jar. Tc
