    Default A shaving miracle..

As part of the never ending saga of creating the ultimate shave den, and to make my GF wonder what goes on in my head sometimes... i have recently bought in a few aftershaves and colognes.

After some reading here i decided i wanted a bottle of Tabac in the den. I ordered said Tabac, and it arrived today.

I opened the bottle this afternoon and took a long whiff.. The scent said one thing.. Grandpa. I got the bottle home and made my little brother take a sniff. He confirmed, yup that's what Grandpa smelled like.

Well its been a few years since i smelled that scent since my G'pa passed 2 years ago.

I guess i'm just really excited about this cologne, because it reminds me of him, and i miss his old ass like the dickens. They say scent is the sense most strongly connected to memory and this has brought a few flooding back. I never knew what the cologne he wore was called, but he always had it on. I'm 97 percent sure this was it.

I might go through this bottle pretty quick.

A little shaving miracle.. if you will.

Part of this whole SR shaving experience for me has been the introduction to the huge array of scents out there. The more classic the scent the more i like it.

I like to smell old timey.

This is funny. Acqua Velva is no longer available in Brazil since 80s, and I managed to get some last year.
When I traveled to visita mama last january, I shaved one morning, applied some AV aftershave and went to enjoy a family breakfast.
Mama came to give me the customary morning cheek kiss, and stepped back as if stared at a ghost, her eyes in tears, so she grabbed me in a loong hug. In my ear, she wispered " oh, I miss daddy".
Gents, that was very emotional and awesome at same time. I'll never forget.
I miss my granddad too, very much.

Two great stories of how scent can trigger very strong memories.

    Thanks for sharing.

I,m sorry you can't get Aqua Velva there, here in the states it's even in convenience stores for 3$ , AV Ice Blue is one I will always have like clubman, my wife don't like it but I do. Tc
Again it might be the memories
