Default Whatever happened to Dominica Bay Rum?

For some time Dominica Bay Rum is listed as out of stock or discontinued at many, if not all, westshaving stores. Does anyone know if this product will be available again? or why it's out of stock?

Pressure from the Pinaud Syndicate drove them out of business.

They found out you could drink the stuff and get a super high so it's all on the black market now.

I have read that the makers of Dominica Bay Rum in the Caribbean are experiencing major production problems, but they state that this is only temporary. No timeline of it's return was mentioned.

I don't know if its true or not, but I heard that the CEO of California-Antilles Trading, producer of Dominican Bay Rum, woke up one morning with half a bottle of Lilac Vegetal in his bed.

I'm on the fence about buying this. I don't see any references to this aftershave since it came back. It looks like it is now packaged in a plastic bottle with a spray pump now. Hmmm.

Anybody here with recent Dominica experiences?

Not recent... I read about this, I think last year. Honestly can't remember the details, but I do remember folks saying it's not the same thing.

Back in 2015 folks on German shaving forums said this is almost identical to Bello Bay rum (available on DE eBay). Looking for a good Bay rum AS, I went on a search and found more praise of Bello. I also think it's good stuff and it isn't expensive. I bought Bay rum and Bay Lime. Like the latter a bit better, it seems to have a bit less of a bite and is a little more refreshing. Both work very well as post shave treatment, they are high in alcohol at around 50%, so I also use a moisturizer after them.
As the time passes, so we learn.

I've read something similar about Royall Bay Rhum, with some reviewers saying manufacturing moved and the new product just wasn't as good as the old. Dominica and Royall were considered some of the best examples of Bay Rum aftershaves. I wonder...Who is now King of the Bay Rums?

I have tried versions from Royall, Captain's Choice, Stephan's, and D.R. Harris. So far, I would have to say Captain's Choice has been my favorite.

Having never tried Dominica Bay Rum, I picked up a bottle of Grand Bay Bay Rum as a replacement. I really like the Grand Bay stuff, and it's become my default after-shave.
