    Default Need pairing suggestion

I am a huge fan of Taylor of Old Bond Street's Cedarwood. The lady loves it, I love it, win-win. Unfortunately, a soaps smell isn't exactly a long lingering thing and they don't make a balm/cologne for it. Sometimes I open the tub for a refresher whiff. I want this smell all day, I could bathe in it. So, cologne/aftershave/post-shave balm are all acceptable in my book. I have Nivea sensitive that I use afterwards, also AoS Sandalwood but that's getting low and will probably be replaced with unscented.

Anyone out there willing to suggest a cologne? I will accept a balm as second choice, both would be ideal.

If you can't help but have recommendations for either of these, that would be the cherry on the sundae.

    MdC (original or fougere)

St. James of London (clarysage & cedarwood or sandalwood & bergamont)

I have not tried the TOBS Cedarwood so I can't make a direct comparison.

Two brands with cedar-scented shaving that come to mind are Pre de Provence No. 63 and L'Occitane Cade. I own the No. 63 balm and to me it smells woody, spicy, and sweet. Pre de Provence sells bath soap, shaving soap, brushless shaving cream, and balm in this scent. L'Occitane Cade comes in a shave soap, shave cream, edt, etc. I have only used the shaving soap, and while pleasant smelling, I didn't think it smelled more soapy than like cedar. By the way, cade is a type of juniper that grows in France.

Thank you for your advice LS; Pre de Provence sounds very enticing, tempted to just buy the balm and cream, but I'm hoping someone says "I have this exact match for you..."

St. James of London makes a ver nice cedar and clary sage after shave.

Yeeaaa, I looked at some sites and found that both SJOL and XPEC make aftershaves, I'll have to resmell the SJOL cedarwood cream I have and determine if that is close enough to pair with TOBS.

MdC and TOBS cedarwood are my favorites at this point, so something close to those would be ideal.

DR Harris, Marlborough. Lots of cedar in the scent.

Excellent! I think that that comes in a sample, somewhere.

I have a tub of the TOBS Cedarwood and love it in the winter. My go to pairing is Ogallala Bay Rum - Sage & Cedar. You can get a really nice sized sample for not too much IIRC.

There is also the possibility of going to a good natural store and buying jojoba oil or shea butter and then mixing it with you preferred essential oils, like cedar wood and making a skin cream out of it. They are both good skin food, and are very good carriers for essential oils.
    Demetrius and Lemy like this.

This is a fantastic idea, that way I don't have to shop around for stuff. Brilliant!
