"Doctoring" Nivea Post-Shave Balm
So on the occasions when our mild South Carolina winters leave my face feeling a little raw and dry after a shave, I'll use a balm like Nivea. But the Original Replenishing formula has very little detectable scent.
Anyway, as I have been making aftershaves and experimenting with essential oils for a few years now, I added several drops of sweet orange oil, some menthol, and a few drops of patchouli, and love the result. It's a homemade orange chill that still feels and smells nice.
So does anybody else "doctor up" their scentless shave balms? Let us know if you have any recipes.

Thanked: 4826I do add essential oils to my pomade regularly. Typically my oils of choice are vetiver, cedar, fanciness, and myrrh. I would like to experiment more but it gets used at such a slow pace that it takes months to go through a few grams. I have used essential oils along with shea butter as an after shave balm. Most of the time I stick with the commercial aftershave lotions, but I am thinking about trying my hand at making some. I do make my own pomade, so it is not that much of a stretch.
