Thanked: 72Whiskey Barrel-Aged Aftershave
The Holy Black are never ones to shy away from a gimmick. Having said that, I have bought a lot of products from them
over the last couple of years and they have always been top notch.
So the latest? A triple lavender, whiskey barrel-aged (for one year) aftershave called Lavender Creeper. Mine's still in the mail, so no report yet, but
thought I'd pass this along. I got the soap too. Should be interesting!

Thanked: 3I'm recently new to the HB. I bought their gunpowder spice soap and tonic and pomade literally 3 weeks ago and lover all three. The smell is awesome. I saw the Lavender Creep notice and jumped on it right away. Any day now and the box should arrive. I'm intrigued by the "creeper" colder than menthol, no smell aspect of this.
All the best,
Steve

Thanked: 3I've shaved with it twice since yesterday. The soap is a tallow based soap and lathers good. This is my first tallow based soap so I have nothing to compare it to, but it lathers well, even in super hard water. The scent is clean, fresh and pure, not nastiness that some soaps have. The "creeper" is very nice as it chill comes on slowly but it lingers past the shave. Nice thing about "creeper" is it doesn't not make your eyes water and its colder than menthol and lasts longer. The porcelan soap holder is nice, something different for me. It's slick and yields a good shave in my opinion. The soap liked to be bloomed, or so it seems, as it tends to chunk out of the holder if not really wet. As for the Splash well it's awesome. Again the lavender scent is clean and pure, it doesn't hide but it doesn't last all day either, which for me means I can par it was a cologne and go about my business. The creeper again is great, comes on slow and holds on. The bottle is corked, no reducer in the neck, which is probably why they include a pipette in the box. I really like both products and am completely pleased that I bought them. Previously I bought their gunpowder spice scented soap and tonic and pomade. Again a complete hit for me. By the way it goes so well with Spice Bomb Extreme cologne. Major "you smell goods" throughout the day with that combo. Hope this helps. As I understand it they have their standard line of gunpowder spice products and then they have very limited runs of these special offerings, which go really fast. Enjoy.
All the best,
Steve

Thanked: 72I had my first Lavender Creeper experience and I have to say, I had the exact positive experience that 805Steve did. The soap and the aftershave are fantastic performers that leave you with a unique, cool, clean scent. One thing I can add is that during the barrel-aging process, the aftershave picked up a ton of wood notes. More wood than whiskey I think, which works really well for me. If you have ever smelled Los Angeles Shaving Soap Company's Woody Lavender, it's like that, but ratcheted way up. And adding a pipette to the package was GENIUS. That really saves you from making a mess and wasting this expensive aftershave.
To give you an idea of how much I enjoyed this, after my shave, I went straight to the Holy Black's website to get a back-up bottle for the archive and they we sold out. Doh!D-rings, not handles
