    Default Mixing balm and aftershave?

I'm personally using the Nivea sensitive aftershave balm. Looking at some threads, it looks like others also mix that balm with a more typical aftershave. I'm curious why. Is it to get the smell? Or because the tiny bit of alcohol mixed in is good for sterilizing minuscule nicks?

I use aftershave just for the smell. Nivea's scent is alright, I just like others better.

I like Saponificio Varesino A.S. They seems to be a mixture between balm and alcohol. They realy makes my skin feel great. Not to much alcohol to sting.
