    Default Snail slime!

My wife loves Dr Organic products and with a recent purchase she received a sample of snail gel.
Yup that's right, snail gel, apparently all the rage now, and its usage has been documented for many a year, the ancient Greeks were fans apparently.

To give it it's full name: helix aspersa muller - snail secretion thats used for its anti ageing properties, the idea
is that helix aspersa muller produced by snails to regenerate their shells will also regenerate our skin shells.
A good idea to slap on my fizzog after a shave methinks.

    Here's the bumf.

"Dr Organic Snail Gel is an innovation in skincare. Harvested from free-roaming snails under certified organic conditions, this gel can help sooth your skin. Dr Organic Snail Gel is effective in softening wrinkles and smoothing skin. This moisturising, soothing gel combines the unique properties of helix aspersa muller with organic Aloe Vera and a blend of bioactive plant ingredients. Helix aspersa muller is naturally produced by snails to quickly regenerate their own shells and skin when damaged. This gel is produced from snails that are farmed humanely under certified organic conditions and are free to roam. On their travels, they move over glass panels which are used to safely collect the mucus secretion, which is then filtered and concentrated by vacuum evaporation to reduce its water content, before a mild preservative is added to maintain its shelf life."

    So is it any good?

I always like to use organic essential oils after a shave such as Argan, Roship, Avocado etc and like them snail gel has a host of skin conditioning properties so a comparison is similar. It is absorbed quickly and when it dries it has a tighten feeling, No sting, or burn so could be used for sensitive skin too.

Is it worth shelling out for? (Ha!)

For a full size tub its £20/25$/22€ for 50ml so it's a bit steep. You can buy many certified virgin organic essential oils for a reasonable price with lots of scientific evidence to back them up too. Like a snail I'm not going to be rushing anywhere to get some more. (I'll stop it now)

I crushed a slug the other day whilst wheeling my motorcycle out.

Well next time just slap some of that slime on your chops. Every silver lining and all that.
I did eat a slug for a drunken bet once, maybe that's why I look so young.

Turns out there are a slew of vendors for the slime, from Amazon https://www.amazon.com/s?k=snail+gel...l_8vgselpw12_e

I won't be ordering in the foreseeable future.

Yep I think it's aimed at the luvvies looking for the next elixir.
To be honest it's far better than most of the aftershave balms that are full of crap which some use.

Must be good coming from free range snails. I'm trying to imagine industrial snail farming.

Free range snails! You couldn't make it up.

Well the French love Escargot so there must be some kind of farming.

If it is more than just a craze, I may take it under advisement if it is still en vogue 5 years from now.

Till then I follow the Mediterranean tradition and just eat these little critters...
