Frozen Aftershave
I come up with some weird ideas, I know-bear with me. You guys who grill and smoke a lot and who are in general just pyros like me (especially in our hot, muggy South)know how you get that greasy, smokey feeling after a day of smoking and cleaning up afterward). Well, it being Father's Day, I grilled some good old hand-patted burgers cuz you grill what you can find nowadays, right? So a post-grill hot bath and shave test with a couple of blades using one of my new brushes with some MDC Vetyver seemed like just the ticket. A couple of hours prior I got one of the greatest ideas since the wheel-"Put your aftershave in the freezer," the voice kept saying. So naturally I did it.
Finished the shave with a couple of blades I had done some mindless "tv laps" on that aircraft carrier Arkie and put 'em through a thorough stropping progression. My word, they were glorious-just one of those memorable edges where you don't even know they're shaving until you're BBS. So I had earned it. After a hot water rinse and clean-up my gear, I went to the freezer, put a few cubes in a glass for a relaxing beverage, gave the pooch her usual 2, and rubbed my BBS face with a couple more (another pro-tip if you want to really cap off a hot day).
Then a generous splash of Royall Vetyver, and wow! Friends, I don't know when I've done anything more icy-cold refreshing save jumping in a mountain stream in cool weather. And as rarely happens, it was far nicer than I even anticipated, especially for a vetiver junkie like me. I could get hooked on this if I didn't like variety so much.
I don't do silly social media stunts, but consider this a #frozenafter-shavechallenge. Don't knock it til you've tried it (after you've earned it of course)! There are many roads to sharp.

While I've never thought about the AS in the freezer I have put water in a bowl in the frig a few hours before shaving to use for clean up.
I'll give that a go next time.Last edited by cudarunner; 06-22-2020 at 02:52 AM. Reason: Never learned how to spell-----

I'll give you this dare....
Try it with Fine's, Snake bite.
Stuff is like cutting a hole in a frozen lake, and sticking your face in, as it is. Outta the freezer..! Probably like liquid nitrogen..!!Mike

Sounds kinky.
I'll stick with some of the A/S preps out there with a healthy dose of menthol. No matter how many men you kill you can't kill your successor-Emperor Nero

Thanked: 1081Will give it a try! I have soaked a flannel (face cloth) in water then left it in the freezer for an hour or so for an ice cold after shave compress.

Mike and Nelson-I'm a menthol junkie, though I've never had the Fine's Snakebite. The freezer method is also nice with good old Aqua Velva Ice Blue, though.

Aaron...Snakebite is very heavy with menthol. It typically makes my eyes water for a few minutes, after application.
Being where you live, and knowing first hand what the summers feels like, there. Ya gotta try it.! Along with the matching soap.
Caution when opening the box of soap, there was a bunch of loose menthol crystals, in it. So don't rub an eye after handling it, like I did the first time.Last edited by outback; 06-24-2020 at 01:22 PM.
