Thread: Bay Rum Parade "AtC"

Funny this thread popped into my inbox again.
Maybe it's the exposure to the air, which could make sense, but have used the Co9t several times recently and it's really mellowed and turned out quite nice! I've even had a few compliments on it.
Still doesn't burn as advertised, but it has developed quite a nice scent....my two cents!

I have the Pinaud, which I love, but my dear wife (otherwise known as SWMBO) thinks it smells like Raid bug spray. Therefore, I only use it when I'm planning a man's day out, not a man's night "in".
I do love the the Ogalalla Bay Rum shave soap, and they are great folks to deal with.

Thanked: 4Turns out SWMBO hates the heavy clove of VIBR so it's going to my son with his next care package. I still haven't tried the Turtle Bay brand. Has anyone tried the Kramperts Acadian Spice Bay Rum?, it's quite nice, last time I went through this thread was sometime ago so sorry if it's been mentioned before, I'm on midnights right now and too tired to read the whole thing tonight.

Thanked: 375Well since I couldn't get Dominica .....
I bought Soapbox Gypsy's "Hold Fast" Bay Rum off Etsy. Presentation is nice with a glass bottle, corked, inside a linen pull string sack. A bit expensive, I believe at $30 to my door for 8oz.
I will say they most likely have a lot $ into the presentation, that's what drew me in, so it worked. But I think this is a bit of a let down. I'm really not detecting "Bay Rum" it's more of acitrus. To be fair I'm comparing it to Dominica BR Lime. I keep taking a sniff between the two and , nope no Pimenta Racemosa, maybe Bay Leaf? It's not bad just not Bay Rum to me.
I think the ingredients list was Vodka, Rum, Bay Leaf, Zest, Ginger? Any who...if some real Bay Rum was in there it'd be a hit I'm sure, but still not at $30CHRIS

Chris,
Dominica is a nice Bay Rum, and, some of the aforementioned brands also.
Another choice for more of the Bay Rum scent is Captain's Choice Bay Rum and, Cat O' Nine Tails....a little different, but still a nice Bay Rum experience. They've come to be one of my favorites, for scent, and, for longevity.
and hope you find the perfect BR for you!
Regards,
Howard

Thanked: 375I would place Soapbox Gypsy in the second group
With ingredients of vodka, rum, bay leaf oil (not Pimenta racemosa?)
Rosemary, line zest, ginger, cinnamon, all spice, WH, glycerin

Thanked: 375Howard,
I've been comparing everything to Dominica BR lime.
This is my 3rd bottle of bay rum. So far I've tried Captains choice all 4 (samples) and bought the CC Bay Rum, and they are all good but, don't compare for me anyway to Dominica.
I think I may have found my bay rum (Dominica) but am curious and certainly wouldn't want to miss out on something else that trips my triggerCHRIS
