The stuff I buy today still has some of that original scent, but I detect something different, sort of chemically, in the formula. I still like it, but it's just not the same stuff.

Hey I bought it then and it did smell different. I bought it again a year ago and was not especially pleased. I thought it was just me but now I am convinced they changed something. It does smell a bit bad and boy does it have staying power.

My daughter used to work in a resturant and evening clean up consisted of restroom detail. You got to start somewhere.

For that reason, I'd guess, it's considered a venerable, old-time aftershave.

Suppose it's better than smelling like a Hungarian horse...

Oddly enough, the Hungarian Cavalry was the most feared in Europe at the time ...

I picked some up just because...ok, I live near Appleton Barber Supply and I went to get a strop. Of course I had to look at the other things they had. I remembered this thread and woops....of course it wasn't the only thing I got....

As far as the scent..It is wicked old school and reminds me of my Grandmother's house ( a good thing). It also reminds me of being in the florists . All those flowering plants, the damp earth, high oxygen content and the general smell of greenery. Btw my daughter made gagging sounds when I first put it on but later she said she likes it. So, put some on and do a bit of face huffing while thinking of the florist.
