Bay Rum vs. Bay Rum
I have a bottle of Pinaud Bay Rum. It's very sweet and smells like Christmas cookies. I like Christmas, but not all year.
Do the other Bay Rums smell like this? I was thinking of buying another brand to try.
What would you guys recommend?
Thanks,
Ron

No, they do not all smell like that. Try the Dominica line of bay rum products. Its a very "pure" scent and clean. They're also very reasonably priced. I also like the Royall Bay Rhum- watch what you pay for Royall though. The prices are all over the place.

For $1.89 for 11.8 oz, you can do a lot worse than Superior 70 bay rum... found it at a nearby Walgreens It smells just like fresh "spice tree" (what we called them in Bermuda) leaves pulled off the branch and crushed in your hands

The best bay rum I've smelled thus far is a ome brew by Topher. I got a whiff of it at the Ohio get together and it was awesome. I think he posted on how to make it, but it got lost in the crash (I believe). Hit him up and maybe he'll re-post on how to make it.

You can get Master's brand at Sally's for 7 bucks a bottle. It has a very "bright" smell, but not spicy at all.
I also can give you the recipe for my homebrew if you want, it's much darker and spicier than most of the commercial preparations I've smelled.
