Default Aftershave LOTION or Clubman Pinaud?

I'm a newbie to straight razor shaving, but I've heard a lot about Clubman Pinaud aftershave -- currently, I'm using Nivea for Men for Sensitive Skin.

Is the Pinaud better, especially for us who straight razor shave?

    Thanks.

If you are using Nivea for Sensitive Skin because you have sensitive skin, then you may want to stay with that.

The reason Pinaud Clubman is so popular is because of it's scent. Big nostalgia factor. It brings many of us back to those ol' school barbershop days.
One of my favorites definitely, but it is still just alcohol and fragrance.
Heck, for the price, you can pick a bottle up and if you don't like it, you'd only be out $4-$6

    Hope that helps.

i mix a couple of shots of the pinaud into a bottle of witch hazel and it lasts a long time that way, i find the pinaud too stong scented as is. and then i use nivea balm after the scented witch hazel. you go thru a lot less nivea this way as well as now i only use a very very small amount.

If you have sensitive you'll probably need to stick with aftershave lotions/balms that were designed for that. I will tell you though, if you add some pure liquid glycerin and some vitimin E oil to Clubman, or any other alcohol based aftershave it does add some soothing quality to them. Go real easy on the Vitimin E though, it can get greasy pretty quickly. Plus, you will have to shake it up before each use, as the oil separates and collects at the bottom of the bottle.

As the other folks replied, it really depends on your skin. It took me a little while to figure out that alcohol based stuff dries my face out something fierce, so I tend to lean towards lotions.

An alternative when I want to use pinaud and the like is a tiny bit of the alcohol-based stuff (good for closing pores, too) followed by the lotion I usually put on my face after showering, shave or not.

I use Karma cream, from Lush. I don't know how people here feel about lush products, but I like the scent and their standard container lasts me a little over a year. It's been a christmas gift two years in a row now, so it's an easy choice

After shaving, I like to use Pinuad Clubman and finish off with something like Gillette Aftershave gel. The two have fragrances that compliment each other and the gel soothes the skin. Gillette Aftershave gel is also cheap and should be on the shelf next to the Clubman in any CVS.

    Default clubman all the way

I myself like the the pinaud clubman aftershave lotion.
It smells very good, not no girly scent. I get alot of positve comments on it. It seems to stay with me all day.

I agree with the others we like the Pinaud for it's scent. If you have sensative skin you might want to stay with stuff for sensative skin.

Yes, my skin is very sensitive -- ust the neck really, and I have a feeling this will be breakout city.
