So I was at the local health food joint the other day, when I saw a huge display of essential oils. After spending some time smellin them all, I settled on two great smells that remained cheap enough to experiment with: Spike Lavender and Cedarwood.

On the cedarwood bottle, there was a recipe for "scalp Stimulator" that read very close to an aftershave recipe... 6 drops of lavender eo, 6 drops of cedarwood eo, 1 oz of witchhazel extract, and shake.

So I took out an old empty hoyt's cologne bottle, dropped 12 drops of the lavender, 12 drops of cedarwood, 1 oz of thayers lavender witchhazel, and 1 oz of kettle one vodka. After shaking like hell, the emulsifiers in the thayers seemed to do their thing, and the mixture had become homogenously milky with no EO floating on top. The results?? They were actually pretty good. The smell wasn't strong enough, so I added 8 more drops of each EO, and it was perfect. If I had to do it again, I would only change one thing. I'd add more vodka, or use stronger alcohol like everclear, for more of a kick. The skin conditioning was great with these EO's, though it is a bit stronger on the cedarwood than the lavender. All in all a nice aftershave that I'll use when I want to smell like a humidor!

Cheers,
Landis
