Thanked: 735Lucido in Japan
OK, so I'm on business travel in Japan and my aftershave balm runs out (I had tried to pick up some Nivea before I left, but that stuff gave my wife a headache, and I didn't much care for it, so I took it back immediately....OK, so I'll save that for a different review...), what's a guy to do?
Off to the nearby Izumaya department store and see if I can get some local stuff (I don't speak a word of Japanese, mind you....). I come across a likely looking candidate in the shave stuff department. I give the bottle a swirl...hmm, looks nice and thin, milky white. In English it says "Lucido" with "skin conditioner" below, sounds about right, the rest of the label is in Japanese, except on the back where it says "made in Japan". Cool, I'm sold, a product crafted in a foreign land, and only about $6 bucks for a 125ml glass bottle of the stuff, even with our exchange rate in the dumps.
What are the ingredients?
Eye of newt, wing of bat?
Badger milk?
Depleted uranium?
Darned if I know, it's all Greek to me! Errr...Japanese that is...Pic is attached if you want to see/decipher for yourself....
OK, bottom line--pretty nice stuff. Looks and feels much like The Gentleman's Refinery unscented after shave balm. See pic for a comparrison of droplets of each on my desktop here at the hotel (jetlag is REAL fun!) The TGR is on the left, the Lucido is on the right.
That stuff goes for $40 for 100ml.
Of course it seems that you have to pay for a ticket to Japan to get this Lucido stuff...
Very mild neutral scent, if at all (have to wait until I return home to see if this also renders a headache with The Mrs.).
Slight cooling feel.
Light and easily absorbed.
Excellent score. I may pick up a "spare" bottle afore I leave...Lucido also makes an aftershave splash, I may give that a go as well. But I was reluctant to as I couldn't read the ingredients to see if it was an alcohol based AS, or what

Thanked: 735Thanks OLD_SCHOOL!
I was pleasantly surprised at how great this stuff is, for the same price as the Nivea ASB that I didn't care for at all.
Have you tried the aftershave splash as well? I'm more of a balm kind of guy, but I like this stuff so much I'm getting caught up in my own enthusiasm...
