    Default Another use for Alum.

I have been learning to drive. horses and carriages actually not cars.

It was recommended to us by an expert that we rub the shoulders and neck of a horse with alum daily in order to help toughen his skin up so the collar harness wouldn't make him so sore. I thought it interesting, that we do the same thing for our shaves LOL.

An alternative he said we could use was Malt vinegar. Hmmm...... vinegar as an aftershave treatment. I wonder what my dermatologist would think.

    Heh! Who knew?

Why are you learning to drive horses, Tim? Hobby? General interest? Going "back to the land" and "off the grid?" Seems like a cool thing to know how to do, though!

Malt vinegar as an aftershave? Don't be surprised if people approach you with tarter sauce!
