Thread: How are you really supposed to use AS?

I have a couple of bottles of AS that I normally use for a bit of extra nice scent when going partying and whatnot, but I usually don't use more than to wet a fingertip and apply that. But how are I supposed to use it for shaving? Should I splash a little in my hands and then apply it after shaving to my whole face or what?

Everybody does their after-shave routine a little differently.I personally use cold water to rinse off lather,alum block pass,let that air dry while I do 20 laps on leather strop,then splash after-shave on.

After shaves, like any other things in life, is a matter of personal preference. Some people cover the bottle with the finger and rub their faces and others cup their hand, top it off, get the other hand involved and SPLASH!!! and everything else in between. The idea is that some of the benefits of the after shave (antiseptic and/or conditioning, not all after shaves condition) depend on the product being spread over the entire area. Having said, I prefer to splash my entire face with copious amounts of the product.

i do the same as alraz, just splash it all over, well only on the parts that i shaved, i love the burn i get from it. and that is after the alum dries and then is rinsed off. but whatever works for you

After a cold water rinse, I dab my face dry (I actually leave it damp, but with no water dripping). Then, depending on the product, I put maybe 1/2 a tsp. of AS in my palm, rub my hands together and apply to my face, neck and behind my ears. I don't use AS for scent really, just as AS lotion. The scent goes away in just a few minutes. Then I apply EDT.

After an initial cold water splash, I splash a small palm full of AS on my face. Especially with the strong action of a straight razor, I think it helps tone the skin faster.

Okay, so I had a quite good idea of how and what to do, but it's nice to know for sure... Maybe I should use a less scented AS for this and then use the other once I have for fragrance, since I don't want more than half a teaspoon of anything that says Calvin Klein or Boss on the bottle, otherwise I'll smell of aftershave two miles away...
For now the small amount works fine with the Mach3, canned goo and the ATG method I'm using, it's gonna be interesting to see how my face will take to a nice DOVO and some DR. Harris soap.

I splash a small amount into the palm of my hand and apply to my damp face. Sometimes I will then wipe my hands over my hair that is still damp from my pre-shave shower, and over my chest and arms. Mind you, there is very little AS on my hands after applying to my face.
