What is the differance between after shave and balm?
I have been really enjoying the board and I have realized that many of you still use alcohol based after shaves. I dont have a problem with that I just thought that most of the good stuff didnt have alcohol in it. So are we as "pro-shavers" supposed to avoid alcohol or not? :?:

Balm is a more creamy style of aftershave. Stops the irratation if any is caused by shaving. Plus it contains witch hazel for a soothing feeling.
I use Burts Bee's Bay Rum after shave balm and its great. ink:

As long as there is alcohol in Old Spice, I will be using and alcohol based aftershave.
While there may be "supposed to"s on honing, stropping, and shaving, I sincerely hope there are no "supposed to"s with aftershave. I use what works.
