Thread: Pinaud Special Reserve & Vanilla

Anybody used these recently? How do they both compare to regular Clubman? (I think Lynn said he really likes the SR.)

I have and use both ,often. They are each different from each other. I love all 3 as they remind me of growing up and getting haircuts at the barbers.

I have never used Special Reserve as I have read mostly negative reviews of it , its been called musky and for mature gents. Again this is just the thoughts of posters on other forums and is hearsay but it made a impression so I have never bought it.

Vanilla is a must get. Great fragrance that one poster likened to powdery Brut. I dunno because I am not a fan of Brut but you have to get a bottle of vanilla, make that 2 bottles of the Vanilla, just a great fragrance.

Sounds like I should pick one up soon. Curses, I just bought something from SRD, too! Should've asked sooner...

How does the scent compare to regular Clubman (which I really like.) if you have both?

Of the three, I prefer the regular Clubman for everyday.

The Special Reserve is too strong for my taste.

The Vanilla - Women like it. It's one of those scents that would make a bulldog give up a bone.

Hmm. Is it somewhat refined i.e. something Bertie Wooster would wear or would Jeeves suggest otherwise?

D M Ellington is accurate, the sweetness of the Vanilla I guess women would like. Clubman and Vanilla are very dissimilar , its worth owning both.The Vanilla is lighter and sweeter smelling than Clubman. Other must have Clubman aftershaves are the Pinaud Bay Rum and the Citrus Musk Cologne, which can be used as after shave. Both of these have a great fragrance .

If you like Pinaud Barbershop style aftershaves you might hit up a online Barber supply like Appletons, Bowman Beauty Supply or Atlanta Barber Supply . If you do I would recommend Lustray Spice and Masters Topaz.

Well, I ended up going w/ the vanilla--to go w/ my SRD buffalo strop & Naniwa 1k!
