Default art of shaving after shave balm - irritation!

I will just start by saying I like other art of shaving products like their pre shave oil and shaving cream. But their (unscented/hypoallergenic) after shave balm, while its supposed to soothe your skin, instead causes too much irritation. I suspect it is the Vitamin C in the product which is doing this to my skin, as Vitamin C's acidity is known to cause skin irritation in some individuals.

    I have two questions:

    1) Has anyone else noticed this irritating rather than soothing effect of AOS after shave balm?

    2) Any other suggestions for after shave balms that are more soothing?

Check the reviews section. I was not overly happy with AOS's unscented line.

As for alternatives: there are three balms that have really impressed me so far: Castle Forbes Lime and Lavendar; but even more so Xpec Original. Costly, but worth it.

A totally different approach I really like: Der Hauschka Facial Tonic and Skin Oil. Really good stuff, and their approach to skin treatment works well for me.

As I said, get a sample. Or try Castle Forbes, which is more moderatley priced. Both will go a long way, thus putting the price into perspective.
