Trumper's, etc... thoughts
I put this stuff on and it was reminiscent of the lemon aerosol furniture polish. I suppose that is more of a carrier, because soon afterwards, before I even got to work, it had settled down and smelled quite nice. The lemon peel odor was totally gone. I've kept a few other samples from them in the drawer for awhile because I couldn't stand them in the vial. I didn't think their Spanish Leather was on par with Truefitt & Hill's S.L. at first whiff, but it too settles down and is fantastic. I think I may snag a bottle of this one! Maybe my olfactory palate just isn't used to scents as complicated as these. So far, I liked maybe 10% of the Trumper samples in the vial. They all change after you've had them on a half hour, and luckily, they all get better! Maybe not so luckily for my bank account. Next line I'm dying to try is Penhaligon's. Over at SMF the seasoned noses rave about them. Any thoughts?

I love the Spanish Leather! I had the same experience as you, I smelled it in the vial and was not thrilled, put it on and.. Magic! It's a great evening cologne for more intimate encounters. For the day I really like Trafalgar. Both of those scents are at the top of my Christmas list.
I too would like to give the Penhaligons a spin, but DAMN! It costs a fortune. I emailed them in hopes of obtaining a sample, but no go. I haven't checked to see where it could be purchased locally so I could at least get a whiff. If learn of anything, I would be interested to know.

On their penhaligons.com (I think) website where you can order stuff online, they have a sampler set or like 10-12 vials for $15. That might be a way to go. From what I can tell, you have to be in a major MAJOR city to find it.

Thanked: 0Dr_Phong,
Did you get a reply? I just this week emailed them requesting a few samples since I was interested in purchasing but had no local retailer. I gave my address and requested:
Blenheim Bouquet Eau de Toilette
Hammam Bouquet Eau de Toilette
Endymion Cologne
English Fern Eau de Toilette
Racquets Formula Cologne
Quercus Cologne
A day or two later I got a reply saying they would wend them right out. I hope they show.

Thanked: 79If you are ever in Las Vegas there is a Penhaligon in the forum shopping center, and they have plenty of samples. In fact I was ENCOURAGED to take a good handful. Free. I'm sure it is similar in other locations carrying Penhaligon.
So far from them I have Endymion and Castile, and a few samples of English Fern and Duoro.
Good stuff. My fiancee likes the Endymion on me, and I lean towards the Duoro, but like both.

They said they'd send me a few samples.....
They didn't show up yet, but here was our exchange if it helps....
"I am a wet shaving enthusiast, and as such I follow quite a few online forums pertaining to straight razors, grooming, etc. The Penhaligon's name in men's fragrances is highly regarded by the members in the know and I am intrigued. I have browsed your online shop, but am unable to find any of your wares locally. I live in the northwest Florida panhandle. I'd be grateful if you could provide a small sample of each of your men's fragrances, so I might be able to make an informed decision. I am looking for a new favorite cologne, and regrettably I can't afford to order a bottle of each. Thank you for your time,..."
and their reply...
"Thank you for your inquiry. No problem we will mail that out to you.
Please feel free to contact us if any further questions or concerns.

They have yet to show up, but I check the mail daily with great anticipation. I hope I'm not biting the hand that feeds me by posting this, but I can't understand why they would agree to a little customer service one day, and roadblock the next. I know here, of all places, this tidbit of information will not be employed without tact...:-)

Greetings,
I emailed them requesting samples and received them in a timely manner.
