    Question Bay Rum

How about some opinions on the best bay rum. I have not used any for years and would like to get some idea before buying.

I have used two bay rums the Dominica which is serious stuff, very manly and clubman which has a sweeter scent to it.

I have some Royal. It smells pretty good.

I'm actually not a big bay rum fan. I had bought a bottle of the Pinaud Bay Rum at my local drugstore to give it a test spin. Tried it, but it didn't really do it for me. It sat in my bathroom for a few months and then one day I noticed that the bottle was half empty. I figured that my roomate was diggin' it. Not so. Our living room carpet was smelling a little bit musty and he was using it as a deodorizor. Anyway, he replaced it with the Royal Bay Rum. I wish he had replaced it with some T&H Trafalgar Cologne. Bit of a price difference though.

I like the Royall Bay Rhum best of the few I have tried. It is made with real Bay leaves and does not smell like a bottle of cloves. It's an excellent product as are all of the Royall lotions.

    Hey Marty,
I think a straight forward Bay Rum would be along the lines of Dominica Bay Rum. It's a great after shave, but can also be used as a splash if you're inclined. On the mornings that I decide not to shave, I still rub some over my face and neck; great scent, along with good astringent and toning properties.
I like the Pinaud/Clubman stuff, too. A little more perfumey, but also a great scent. It will last most of the day.
The Clubman can often be found in drugstores, and is not expensive, so that may be an easier choice to start. ClassicShaving has Dominica, so you may want to get a bottle of that if you pick up other stuff there. (saves on freight, too.)
I haven't tried the Royall, but may have to now.

The bay rum splash at emsplace.com is quite nice, IMNSHO.

I haven't tried the others but I really like the Pinaud Bay rum. All though resently I have been using witch hazel with aloe as it has no scent. I have been trying some of the T&H samples of cologne after the wh.

Well I broke down and ordered some from Classic(Clubman). Also purchased a couple of more items.
So I guess I will be finding out for myself. Can't go too wrong @ their price. I really appreciate the info guys.

I think I am going to order some Dominica Bay rum, who has a preference for the "Lime" over the actual Bay rum. Is the lime one just a little more citrusy?

    Hey Ryan,
Definitely lime. The Dominica lime version is more limey; not so bay rummy. ...a nice lime fragrance, though. Same "feel" as their regular bay rum. I like it.
