Yes tests your skills and I personally love the scent, starts off oak and musky, but turns to baby powder over the course of the day, a true classic, reminds me of every barber shop haircut I've ever had....

This is one of my AS in my rotation, and it does remind me of my baber when I used to have my hair cut, folks this was a long time ago. It does burn, the talkum powder scent is pleasant. Oh the joys of straight razor shaving!!
It's the only aftershave I use. I keep wanting to try others, but I love the scent so much and it lasts all day that I have no reason to stop using it. I rinse with cold water to close the pores, and unless I've nicked myself, there's no sting.
I loves me my Pinaud Clubman. As for the burn, I tend to be old-school about aftershaves, and to me it don't mean a thing if it ain't got that sting, doo-wop, doo-wop, doo-wop, doo-wop, doo-wop, doo-wop, doo-wop, doo-wop, sh-wowww.

I use it every time I shave !! Nice feel not a bad burn...I get more compliments from people asking what are you wearing ?? Man that smells great !! And when you tell them its a look of shock with the response "Really" ? "I remember my grandfather used to use that". It's still a tried and true classic....Im actually looking for the vanilla pinaud.. The bay was a liitle overpowering for me. Funny how the cheap stuff always gets the most compliments !! :tu
Gentlemen,
Clubman aftershave by Pinaud has been a must in my aftershave world for more years than I can recall. After all, Clubman is a way of life. For me, not the Bay Rum version, however. I dislike Bay Rum of any kind. I prefer the good old standard Clubman. My barber used to use it way back in the 14th century. Yes, it does burn a little, as does any aftershave with alcohol, but I welcome that burn.
Regards,
Obie
I'm also a Clubman fan. If the burn is too strong wet your hands in cool water before you apply it. That will tone it down significantly.

Wearing some today. My main AS for days I am not going to wear cologne, though it does blend well with a few I have.
I find that Clubman stings a bit no matter how gently I shave. But, it's not excruciating by any means. It also smells great and is about as cheap as they come (especially if you buy the convenient economy size). Now, the Pinaud Bay Rum is a whole different story. While it smells great and is similarly inexpensive, it burns like the fires of hell!
I keep hearing that the burn helps you figure out how good your technique is. what does that mean? good technique = less burn?
