    Default CLUBMAN PINAUD set

    Good afternoon,

I understand there is a current thread on Clubman Pinaud aftershave and how well it works etc. I am wondering if anyone has had any experience with Clubman's line of products? I see it as a low-cost entry purchase that may aid in my skill development and enjoyment of using straight razors. Would this be a good purchase? Thank you all for your time.

    Default Clubman

I'm no expert as I'm very new myself. I bought a bottle of the Clubman original when I first started a little of two months ago. I really enjoy the smell and the feel of it.

I liked it enough to go to straight razor designs and buy a second bottle with a different scent, Vanilla. I like the original a little better but still want to try the bay rum.

It's not very expensive, so I would recommend it. If you don't like it, your out like 7 bucks.

Captenicon...of all the Pinaud products the only one that I have used is the Pinaud Clubman, I like the scent, it is refreshing and has a cooling effect; however unlike me some people find the scent rancid and too strong. See member's comments in the Review section under Aftershaves. To play it safe, buy the 6oz bottle.

I picked up a bottle of the Bay Rum from my local Walgreens. I like it. It has a nice scent and gives a warming feeling. I would recommend it.

    Thumbs up

I agree with 59caddy - the lilac vegetal is gross. Reminds me of a urinal.

Otherwise they're great AS and certainly worth the price. The Clubman original and Bay Rum are pretty similar, and my favorite still is the Vanilla. Definitely worth a shot.

I have a bottle of each kind that they make. I am fond of the classic, vanilla, lilac vegtal, and bay rum. The others are fine too, but those are my favorites. The lilac takes a little time to get use to and imo is a love it or leave it scent. I have found that the CDI rating on the lilac is pretty high.

Just as a side note: booster is pretty good too and very similar to Pinaud. John at shaving essentials makes up a sample pack of booster so you can try all the scents at a reasonable price. He also does TOBs shave cream.

    captenicon,

Accurately speaking the name of the cologne/aftershave is "Pinaud Clubman." The maker is Pinaud...The scent is Clubman. The Clubman scent is a well-made, cheaper version of the more expensive "Canoe" cologne by Dana which was popular in the 1960s.

I like it. It comes in a plastic bottle--no chance of it breaking if dropped--which makes it perfect for the gym.

And for those of us with, shall we say, coordination issues.
