Penhaligon Scents designed for Different Seasons?

Hi Gents (and ladies),

I love the scents of Penhaligon's (I have Blenheim Bouquet, Endymion, Opus 1870, Racquets, and Quercus)...but does anyone know if their various scents are designed to go best at certain times of the year or best suited for different seasons?

if so, what goes when? Opinions highly appreciated.

Hmmmm. That's an interesting question. Although every person's body chemistry is differnt, I would think that the lighter Penheligon scents would go best during spring and summer months, while heaver scents wouod be best for fall and winter.

Just my 2 cents.

Thanks...that's what my thinking is, but what would constitute a "light" or "heavy" scent? i.e., is BB a light scent, etc...?

As I have never worn any of the Penhaligon colognes, I can't say for sure. They're pretty expensive. Vintage Blades is currently offering a sampler pack of the Penhaligon scents in small bottles, however. Perhaps I will get one of those samplers before the summer ends and let you know for sure.

Not too familiar with penhaligon's scents. But normally heavier scents would be tobaccos, leathers, darker woods, etc. Lighter scents more on the floral side. Although if you're into some at the moment, I don't think you should let the season discourage you from using it. I know I don't.

I dont know if they meant for them to be used at different times of the year, but my thought has always been to go with what you fancy really!

I only have the Endymion cologne, and thats pretty good all year round I think. Not too heavy or anything, but I prefer Spanish Leather in the winter as I find it a bit too full on for the summer.

Other than that, I tend to go with what I fancy that day!

These are indeed expensive. I have actually found a source on eBay that sells them for 1/2 price...no knockoffs or anything, just doesn't have the foofoo ribon. In fact, I had such a pleasant experience with him that I now deal with him independently of eBay. If you want, PM me your email address and I can put you in touch with him.

He's sending me 10 samples of Penhaligon's other scents (including women's...for my wife) for free.

Point well made baakabak . I use them daily without regard to seasonal attributes...nonetheless, i was merely curious about the engineering of scents and whether Penhaligon had the seasons in mind when designing their scents

After a quick email with the same question posed to Penhaligon's, here's the response that I received from them (Verbatim):

Dear Sir,

Thank you for your email. Looking at the scents you already own, I would categorise them like this;

Racquets – warm/summer
Blenheim Bouquet – warm/summer
Quercus – warm/summer
Opus 1870 – cold/winter
Endymion – cold/winter

As for the rest of our men’s collection, I would say that;

Castile – warm
Douro – warm
Eau de cologne – warm
Elixir – cold
English fern – could be both
Hammam bouquet – cold
LP no.9 for men – cold
