Well, now we know..! Thanks for sharing!

Is this going to become a shaving faux pas, wearing the wrong scent in the wrong season..?

I doubt it Stu...But, I think you said it best: wear what you fancy that day (summer or winter).

It was just curiosity on my part .

    Robert,

Thanks a lot for this information. It provides guidelines for the seasonal use of the Penhaligon scents. Of course, the personal preference of the user probably has to be considered as well. A younger male or type A personality might prefer to wear one of the bolder scents during spring or summer.

    Whatever floats your boat...

    You are welcome Monroe
I very much agree with you . I think that the personal preference of the user is very much at the heart of the matter and of paramount importance and as such, I don't believe these "rules" are written in stone, merely guidelines I guess in the process of engineering scents.

I would imagine that if a particular scent were likely to become the fancy of some chap, then he would use it regardless of seasonal constraints.

Well...you know what my old football coach used to say..."opinions are like ________...we all got em and they all stink!"

While I appreciate Penhaligon's opinion (hell...they made the juice!) I dont necessarily agree, nor am I going to allow my Opus to sit on the shelf only for the winter months!!!

Agreed Ru4Scuba...as I stated earlier, I don't think these are hard, set rules by even Penhaligon standards...They are meant as guidelines. To me, it was interesting to see whether their scents are seasonal and seems like they are.

Like you, I am not going to stick my Opus in the drawer until winter rolls around ...I will use it. Love the smell too much

    Smile More info from Penhaligon

Here's another reply from Penhaligon (their New York Office)

    Hello Robert,
Thank you for your inquiry. We are happy to see you have such an array of our Penhaligon’s fragrances!
There are definitely certain fragrances that wear better in a particular season or climate, however, it is always up to the discretion of the wearer as to what ultimately will be sprayed at the end of the day, so to speak.

Usually citrus or aromatic scents and more singular notes fair better in the heat and moisture, as more full bodied aromas can become cloying and overwhelming. Conversely, the more spice a fragrance has the better for giving a feeling of warmth and powdery scents feel very cozy in the chill of winter.

From the list you have given above, I would say, your fragrances actually fall in the milder category and would fair well in all seasons!
Endymion might be a better choice for the transition between fall and winter; Blenheim Bouquet for winter to spring.

For a very summery scent try our Eau de Cologne, a bright and refreshing rendition of a classic cologne. I personally love for English Fern and LP#9 for men is very soft and cozy for the fall and deep winter months, respectively.

I hope this helps a bit- but keep in mind, you do know a few things about perfume! You’ve already chosen a great selection of scents- wear them whenever the mood strikes you!

Well...it confirms the previous email I had received and what some of you had predicted.

But again...wear what you feel like, when you feel like.
