Thumbs up Nivea as Pre-Shave Cream

Okay, so in my eternal quest to acquire as many things shave related as I can, I bought three different Nivea Aftershave Balms. I have the Sensitive, Replenishing and the Cool Kick. I did not like the Cool Kick, so it went in the pail. This is in addition to my Art of Shaving ASB and Mamabear's Aftershave Milk.

I really, really like the Nivea Sensitive as an aftershave/moisturizer, but was not crazy about the Nivea Replenishing. I have not really used either of them since I have been using the Art of Shaving ASB which I love.

Anyway, today, I tried using the Replenishing as a pre-shave lotion and to my surprise, it worked quite well. Nothing dramatic, but it kept my skin moisturized while I was building up my lather. I only applied a thin layer and then applied the lather on top of it approximately 5 minutes after the application. I did notice a slight difference in the comfort of my shave, so I will definitely use this method again.

I think pre-shave oils/creams are overrated and probably not completely necessary, so a cheap alternative like Nivea is worthwhile.
