Another possibility is that it's not the scent, per se, but the amount. Many scents are amazing when used very sparingly, but cloying if too much is used. Less is more, especially if you find that your cologne or aftershave is announcing your arrival and lingering after your exit. Your scent really shouldnt be noticed beyond your armsreach, the idea being for it to draw her in closer so she can get a better sniff. For spray cocognes, I spray 1 spray into the air in front of me at about chest height, then quickly walk into it. For liquids, a bare drop to pulse points (wrists,behind earlobes, base of throat) and wherever there might be a nose later on.
