I should probably add that Diptyque's Vetyverio is also worth a mention here. It might not be the most "vetiver" of vetiver fragrances - i.e. it's not so much woody from the beginning. Instead, it is blended quite nicely with citrus and other unusual scents like carrot seed and a light hint of rose; notes that you wouldn't associate with a vetiver scent. This is really quite unique and worth a go in my opinion.

I just popped into L'occitane this morning and sampled their Vetyver EdT. That is some nice stuff and is going on my Christmas list, for sure.

    Hi all,

Well, after sampling some vetiver varities (found locally) over the last while I finally picked up my first bottle, L'Occitane Vetyver. Then I looked at the date when I started this thread lol - better late than never, eh?

Anyway I thought L'Occitane would be a good starting point, and so far I'm loving it. Better yet, the wife loves it too

Highly recommended for those looking to try a first vetiver EdT.

The L'Occitane is a gateway drug.... I love it, wonderful scent.
Next try Encre Noire, it's a darker and more "earthy" scent, really awesome as well.

Diptyque is top shelf and most certainly knows how to make good stuff I have few favorites from their line and they come up with new ones on a pretty regular basis.

I'm a fan of vetiver/vetyver, and have several EDTs to recommend:

    • Carlo Corrinto Vetiver
    • Carolina Herrera Sensual Vetiver
    • Comptoir Sud Pacifique Vetyver Haiti
    • Guerlain Vetiver
    • L'Occitane Eau de Vetyver
    • Maître Parfumeur et Gantier Route du Vétiver

Those from Carlo Corrinto and Guerlain are very nice for Spring and Summer wear, while the offerings from L'Occitane, Carolina Herrera, and Comptoir Sud Pacifique were better during Autumn; but for me, the "Winter-weight" choice is Maître Parfumeur et Gantier Route du Vétiver.

If you're interested in an EDP, I highly recommend Jo Malone's Black Vetyver Café.

For more information and knowledgeable reviews, go to Basenotes.com
You can have everything, and still not have enough.
I'd give it all up, for just a little more.
