I actually kinda like the taste. Not that I go around wrong the thing but when rubbing it on my face some gets on my lips then I may lick my lips. Over all it reminds me of a sour patch kid... A sour/sweet assault on the taste buds, just what I need to wake up in the morning.

There is a very funny routine with the 3 Stooges where one is cooking and adds powdered alum to the recipe by mistake. As they eat the food their mouths pucker up and they can hardly talk. Very funny stuff.

I've gone through a few blocks. The problem is at some point they become too thin and you wind up dropping it and that's the end of the story.

Seems a lot of the problems regarding the alum block revolve around dropping it at some point. Have any of you tried Razorock alum blocks? Seems to me their design allows for a better grip.

With everyone dropping the bloc, maybe someone should come up with alum on a rope; doesn't have the same ring as soap-on-a-rope though does it?

I haven't made it through one either without dropping it first. You don't get to drop them but once or twice.

The local Indian grocery carries alum blocks for $3.00 each so to drop one is not a great loss. This is the same place that I buy Godrej for $3 ea as well. I have been on the same block now for well over a year and there is almost no noticeable wear and I use it every day that I am home.

    Gentlemen:

I can't imagine a shave without alum block. I usually buy a big supply of it from Tulumba, and with daily use each individual bloc lasts me about 90 days, give or take.

    Regards,

    Obie
