Thanked: 0Watered down aftershave ?
Hello all,
It's been a long time since I posted, but I do have a question. I recently ran low of my Clubman Pinaud and bought another bottle. I noticed that the color is not quite as dark as my old bottle. When I compared the scent, it seems that nowadays companies are adding more alcohol and less scent than they used to.
They seem to be doing that with other products too. One other example is Brut.
My old Brut bottle had the "Fabrege" name to it. These new ones don't, and while the scent is the same, it is not as strong.
Could it be that since the old bottles were, well, old; some of the alcohol evaporated and it left me with more than a new bottle ? Or, could it be that companies are now trying to save money ? Any insights would be great.
Thanks !

Thanked: 346It could also be batch-to-batch variation.

Or your nose could be getting old.
They say the memory is the second thing to go. I forgot what the first is.
Maybe the olfactory sensors?

Actually now that I think of it my Pinaud clubman did get darker with age. Maybe due to evaporation.

Thanked: 0I've notice the same thing with the Pinaud that I have, darkening with age. But I change all that as I always dilute most of my aftershaves with Witch Hazel as per a previous post. I really don't notice anything scent wise different, but it doesn't seem to sting as bad when I apply it.

in the Brut case I think it's intentional. Fabergé is owned by Unilever and they make HUGE batches of things. I can't imagine them messing up a single batch.

Thanked: 0I thought it was just me and haven't said anything, but I just picked up a new bottle of clubman and have used it a few times. I thought I was just imagining things because the scent didn't seem as strong and it didn't last at all on me. For years, when I put clubman on, I could still smell it after work. Now I put it on and the scent is almost gone by the time I get to work. Go figure. Maybe a bad batch and then.....
