Ahhh Firestart...that's messed up. No really, when he turned twenty last year he got interested in all of my shaving stuff. I hooked him up with a gillette fat boy adjustable and a good ol' burma shave brush along with some different soaps and creams. A little later on I gave him the tea tree crap just to see if he could use it or not because I sure in the hell could not. Honestly, I don't get to see him that often. He's a good kid and is always busy with work and school and I'm not even sure if he tried to stick out the DE experience or went back to his old Muck3 ways or not. On the same note, he took one look at the straights that I started to use and his eyes went wide with terror . He told me that there was no way he was ever going to try it out. Oh well, you can't when them all.

It's actually cool that you're introducing your stepson to shaving like a man. My stepfather and I have never been on the same page, or in the same book, or in the same library for that matter. My dad had more luck when he re-married, so I call my stepmom "mom #2".
I am not surprised with your stepson's reaction. Many people are like that. When I was shopping at the flea market, one guy asked me if I were a barber. My buddies think I'm crazy.
When converting people to going straight I always use the angle that the only way you'll ever hurt yourself with a straight is if you're doing it on purpose. Otherwise you'll just receive the occasional nick, like with a regular cartrige or DE.
