    Default New Aftershave/ Guinea Pig...

A friend of mine and also a wet shaver (He swears by his old DE, but I won't hold it against him). Has decided to start making aftershave. He has been to college and has a degree in chemistry, and is currently working on a second degree. I know him and I trust him more than just any Joe out in his basement mixing stuff together and calling it aftershave. Last night He gave my gal a sample of his first batch for me to try at my next shave. I opened it up and it smells good. I detect a hint of sandalwood and I am sure another scent I can't put my finger on. (I will find out after my shave when I call him). I also can smell a bit of the alcohol. First thing that came to my mind when opening the bottle was the nice burn you get after too close a shave. I will give him my honest opinion on it when I am done, but I figured it would be nice to let all of you know how it's coming along.

He is not a member, I have told him to join several times. My shave went well, over a weeks worth of beard came off easily, no nics. I'm happy. I went through the rest of my post shave as normal. Wash, cold water rinse, witch hazel, post shave balm, then the new after shave... Yowza Quite a sting. (dunno if it is from not shaving for so long or the aftershave) It was a lot more sting than I am used too. The sting subsided it about 2-3 minutes then a little tingle started for a few minutes after. It was nice and refreshing at that point, plus it smells great. (my guess was sandalwood + something I familiar. maybe vanilla) and it is sandalwood vanilla bean with more scents to come. My girl likes the smell too, but after about an hour she changed her mind because I now smell like he does. haha
Due to my beard growth I normally shave every other day, but with the cold weather coming in I have been letting that slide. I will shave again Tuesday at the latest, and see if that helps with any of the sting.
