Default Pair of Aces Bottle Design

Ok, Obie sort of inspired this.

I find that my appreciation of the cologne package is completely seprate from the appeal of the scent. For instance, I kinda like the scent of 4711, but I love the bottle. Another example is that I haven't tried any of the Royall fragrances, But I intend to buy one just because I want the bottle on the sink next to the 4711 bottle.

What are your Pair of Aces?

There are 2 rules, but I know many of you will violate this anyway.

First only three categories, Classic (or vintage), Contemporary (or modern) and Come-on (or you really could have done better) regardless of the scent itself.

Second, no more that two selections per category.

    Classic:
    4711 (Classy vintage look)

Royall anything (Common man type vintage look. Even though it is more expensive than 4711)

    Contemporary:
    Encre Noire

Obsession for men (I like the black square versus the amber round contrast between the two)

    Come-on:
Nemo by Cacharel (Y, I mean WHY, it's just Butt Ugly)

Diesal Green Masculine (Looks like a bug sprayer. Can you say TOXIC!!!)

You know the Royall bottles are color matched to the contents. They recently changed the design a tad and the older ones were embossed with the contents now the embossing is only Royall Lyme. Also I guess they are celebrating their anniversary so this year the bottles have Gold caps.

Awesome! I now have an excuse to purchase the gift set.

I work in a scent free environment so I can't comment on this directly. this brings up a great thought about how advertisement influences our decisions. If it didn't they wouldn't spend their money on it. I don't understand how it works but if i did i wouldn't be spending my time here and making big money!

I have the 4711, but I used all of the cologne so I filled the bottle with 4711 AS. I love the stuff... If only Alt Innsbruck had suck a bottle--I'd be broke. LOL
The 4711 bottle also has a nice pour limiter design, no plastic insert, just the glass.

I love the classic bottle designs, but the Diesel looks really interesting with that pest spray bottle. I bet it's plastic though; which would ruin it.

Yup the bottle is glass but the spray top is plastic.

Green cologne designed with that bottle looks like you could spray your plants and kill the bugs.

Come-on! I need more people to reply.

You don't need to post a pic, just let me know what your favorite or worst Cologne / Aftershave bottles are.

Well, if you are talking bottles Avon products used to sell (don't know if they still exist) AS in all kinds of crazy bottles-cars,,guns ships. You name it and they probably had a bottle that looked like it. Their stuff was sold door to door mostly by housewives.

In my rotation is Avon Spicy AS in a bottle shaped like an Indian chiefs head. Great smelling AS. Reminds me of Old Spice but with more of a eucalyptus scent to it.

Yeah, I remember my Dad having a Paddle Wheel Riverboat, Boot with a silver top and a Car (maybe a Stutts Bearcat).

I've seen some awesome collections usually all empty, on Flea Bay that bring back memories, but right now I like the (full) traditional colognes over the novelties.
