After shave for scalp
Hi. I shave my head & I've found that, no matter what post shave product I use, or if i dont use one, I get a ridiculously oily scalp a few hours later. I haven't tried too many options but have tried perfumed & unperfumed aftershaves, balms, isocol, and proraso preshave cream. I've also tried showering with soaps, body washes & just water. Whatever I do or don't do, my head is slimy like old ham by lunchtime. Any advice to prevent further embarrassment would be greatly appreciated.

Witch hazel, especially the alcohol free Thayers, is what I use when I shave my head.

You just have naturally oily skin, so you could try to cut it down with AS, but that won't keep the oil from building back up.

I can't even remember the source but supposedly there can be a rebound effect with skin oil depletion where the skin actually begins to secrete more skin oil.. Just trying to be negative!

Thanked: 983BUFF, MATT or Head Sox! If you can't get rid of it, hide it under a cool bit of head wear.

Thanked: 1587Plus it doubles as sun protection! Nothing looks worse than scars and burns on your head where they have had to cut out the skin cancers.
I'm not sure whether it would help or not, but I have been putting witch hazel on my head and face post-shave. Seems to make things squeaky but I do not know how long the effect lasts.

Thanks everyone. I will try witch hazel. Haven't tried it before. I do wear a hat at work & I'm slowly building a collection of 40s & 50s style Stetson hats from eBay. But I don't wear hats indoors thus my shame is still exposed. Thanks again for the tips.

Carry a hankerchief as part of your wardrobe. Give the noggin a quick wipe down every hour or so.

Thanked: 983Just so long as you don't mix and match it's usage. That might be a little embarrassing...
