    Default Thayer's Aftershave Impressions

This is the Thayer's aftershave which comes in the small bottle, not the large bottles of Witchhazel. I got this a few weeks ago from SRD and have been using it in my postshave daily since then.

It comes in a plastic bottle of about 4oz. It looks pretty much like the other Thayer's bottles except it's smaller. The cap is a screw top. Unlike most aftershaves there is no shaker-top. You can quickly pour the contents. It's easy to spill out excessive amounts.

The contents are crystal clear and have a thin consistency. The aroma is the same as the Thayer's unscented astringent but stronger.

When applied after shaving, the AS has a relatively light alcohol sensation. The sting from alcohol is less than the other alcohol based AS I have tried, yet significantly more than the large bottle of astringent which rarely stings even a small amount. The aroma of Witchhazel quickly envelopes the nose with it's unique scent and also strong notes of vanilla. In a few seconds the scent fades completely. The AS dries fairly quickly; leaving the skin cool, calm, and ever so slightly tacky.

I like this aftershave, but it's not my favorite. It goes on nicely enough, and doesn't do anything bad to my skin. It fit's nicely into my routine, after shaving and before lotion. I like the fact that it's an all natural product. I don't find myself enjoying the scent however. I much prefer the scent of Thayer's scented products to this, and I'd like the AS better if it came in Lemon or Lavender. Thayer's can also improve the product by including a shaker top with a flip cap.

I'm glad I tried this. It's good and I plan on using the rest of the bottle. After it's gone, I probably won't be buying it again. For someone who really likes the scent of plain which hazel, I recommend it.

I use this before my aftershaves, I like it because it really doesn't have much of a scent to conflict with my aftershave of the day. I've got the larger bottle with aloe, the witch hazel scent was stronger when I first opened it. A few weeks later and it's much calmer.

My post shave is a bit elaborate though alum block, witch hazel, aftershave (summer), balm (winter).

I'm really not a fan of the performance, but I really prefer AS balms due since my face tends to be dry anyway, so its not a fair comparison. I tried it a few times since it was so cheap, but now it just sits and collects dust. I had the same issue as you with the scent, even though I got the lavender scented version (it barely smelled of lavender) and I put a few drops of lavender EO in there. I still don't care for the performance, but it smells nice now.

FYI the as in the small bottle is different than the large bottle. I like both.

Try using the Thayer's, then follow with your balm. It's a nice combo

It's also great for summer Insect Bites! The smaller bottle would be great for a carry along!

Insect Bites & Sun Burns, I have aloe in my 4 year old 4oz bottle and it seems more handy in the medicine cabinet than the A/S cabinet, must be just me.
