Thanked: 5My own pre-shave oil
After reading up on several recipes for pre shave oil I went out and collected the ingredients.
Walmart olive oil, Walgreens castor oil, Tea Tree Oil, sandalwood/vanilla, lavender, and another scent I cant recall. Oh, and a glass flask from Michaels. Mixed it up and here it is. 2.5:1 castor to olive oil, 1cc of Tea Tree, and a mix of the scents with more sandalwood than anything. Letting it settle and "bond" before I use it. I considered putting it in a double boiler and heating it up to aid the process. For now its sitting in the bathroom waiting to be used. Im thinking of drilling the cork or running a bamboo skewer through it or possibly getting a black rubber stopper with an aluminum rod as sort of a dipper I could use to drip/wipe the oil on my hand. So far it smells pretty good but in the end I only care if it works. Besides aftershave will be the last thing I smell anyway.

Thanked: 5My own pre-shave oil
First run with my oil and all seems...okay. Its much thicker than I imagined. Im thinking too much castor not enough olive but I could be wrong. I applied it before and after the first pass. Final results- much less irritation and a close shave. Judging by the feedback from my deoderant grade alum I had a marked decrease in overall irritation. I have been experimenting with skything passes on my neck in order to get a closer shave. This has been resulting in bumps and razor burn. Until now. I dont have room in my bottle for more olive oil so for now Ill use it as is.
