    Default Pinaud lilac vegetal?

S I got a sample of this with one of my whipped dog orders and can't help but ask the question. Do people actually use this stuff? I love the pinaud clubman and bay rum, but this stuff is horrendous. Is it possible the sample I got went bad? It smelled awful. Gave myself about an hour with it on to see if it would subside, but no luck. Took a shower, splashed on some clubman, and it still stunk. Just curious if this is a "very" acquired smell or something...or if I had a bad sample.

The plastic bottle really contributes to the bad first impression. Either refrigerate the bottle or relocate to a glass decanter and then try it before rendering the final verdict.

Since it was a sample, it was in a small sealed Baggie sort of thing...a single use type sample.

The first time I used it I thought of rotting vegetation. I did come to like it once in a blue moon. I have had the same small bottle of the stuff for five years if that gives any indication of how much I like it.

It really is a love it or hate it proposition. I tend to believe body chemistry comes into play too but yeah I've seldom heard any opinion in the middle. It's either, hey I really like this or holy **** this stuff is horrendous. A couple of the other guys and I like it and wear it often but I'd really be lying if I told you I haven't heard plenty of folks that took your side as well.

To me, when I smell it straight out of the bottle, it smells like an old folks home. After it goes on, however, its one of my favorite AS's. It dries down to a rather masculine floral scent. JMO, of course.

The classic old man in a rest home scent if you don't like it. I use it often and like it very much.
