I don't often use mine, it's ok but sometimes it gives me red patches if I've gone a bit too close with the razor. I prefer to use Proraso a/s splash which IMO does a better job and doesn't give me any irritation.

The onloy time I use alum is if I'm using (for example) a Penhaligons soap to shave, with a matching Penhaligons cologne afterwards, the alum is totally unscented so doesn't interfere.
