I don't know all the science behind it - but many people avoid "Parabens"

Sounds good to me. What you're looking for is a Toner. You're going to be applying a balm( Moisturizer ) afterward.

It's matter of how much actual witch hazel is in the product. Many are really watered down.

I'd say try it, especially if it is sold for a good price and you have trouble finding other WH products in South Africa.

Dis-chem is a local pharmacy in your area, right? So, this makes the product a store brand. Not surprisingly, it should be priced well, but it seems watered down based on its other ingredients (see distilled water).

Generally store brand witch hazel is a decent enough aftershave. if you want to "jazz it up", try adding a few drops of your favorite essential oil to help improve the scent a bit, but witch hazel will never really smell especially wonderful. It is a decent aftershave, though.

Can you get Thayers there? My favorite is their cucumber/aloe one, which has no alcohol. I like to keep it in the fridge and use it cold.

Thanks for you guys in put. I can only get local stuff, the other witch hazel you all are using i have to import, which can be expensive. But after some reseach on the net i may have found 2 places where i can get 100% witch hazel, one is a local soap maker and the other one is a local all types of cream manufacture.

Just as an afterthought, can you find alum in block crystal form locally? You could substitute that in place of witch hazel as both do much the same thing.
