    Default Captain's Choice Bay Rum

I don't normally write reviews but I thought I would give Scott at Captain's Choice a public thanks. I've been using his Bay Rum these last few weeks and I have really been enjoying it. When I went to check out his site I saw that he now has a lime scent. I decided to get a bottle along with the Cat O' Nine Tails that I have been meaning to try. The stuff came in today, and I was pleasantly surprised at what I found in the package! They were packaged very well along with some small soap samples that he is selling on the site. I'll try them out in the next couple days along with the two new after shaves. Thanks again!

I will say that the original bay rum has a very nice scent that isn't overpowering yet somehow stays for many hours afterwards. Every now and then throughout the day I get a whiff of the sweet smell of bay rum... I am also enjoying the little burn it gives after the shave, feels refreshing! I can't wait to try the Cat O' Nine Tails!

I bought his sampler and enjoyed the classic, the lime, and cat o nine tails. I liked all the scents, but I found the cat o nine tails to smell the best. It has a slightly "darker" scent to it than the regular bay rum which I found appealing. It stays on the face well, I find myself catching whiffs 4-5 hours later which is quite pleasant, though I haven't received any indications that the scent permeates my surroundings (and my company would let me know...in no uncertain terms). Enjoy!

I've got samples of all three as well.
I've been using "Bay Rum with a Twist" from St. Charles Shave & really like it, so I thought i'd stick with the Bay Rum theme & get some samples.
So far all i've tried is the original Bay Rum & it lit my face up pretty good.
Perhaps I did something wrong with my routine? Splash with hot, then cold water...splash of Witch Hazel...then either balm or AS.

A Bay Rum like this will light you up even if you use it BEFORE you shave. That's the nature of this kind of AS. It has a high alcohol content and that turns some guys off. I like a sharp stinging Bay Rum and Captains Choice is my favorite. If you find it drying on the skin, follow up with some balm. I like the tightening sensation I get from it. Witch hazel doesn't give me that same effect. I have not tried the Lime but I love the original and the cat o'nine tail, it has a distinct scent of black molasses and sticks around with you longer than the original.

The Cat O'Nine tails is a great AS, one of my favorites. You had best have a good shave before splashing it on though! A little razor burn will send you running for the freezer for relief. Thanks for the post, I will be checking out the other Captains products. Let us know how the soap behaves if you could please.
I shave because I want to, not because I have to!

I like Captain's Choice Bay Rum when I want a break from the clove-scented Hawleywood's No. 9, or from the lime-scented Dominica Bay Rum. With Captain's Choice, I always have to follow it up with a balm or moisturizer.

Hm...I just got a bottle of CC, but can't say that I'm very enchanted by it. Ogallala suits me much better. But, then, we'll see if CC grows on me.
