Mike, It's more nimble and lighter on it's feet than I expected.
I figured it wouldn't be as well balanced as it is because of the thick/thin scale shape, but it handles fantastic, and shaves just as good. I didn't notice the tang being any smaller than usual when it was in my hands.
You should see some of the more highly detailed razors that he makes... absolutely stunning.

My Herr razor is among my favorites. Great design, craftsmanship is superb. This is what he built for me after I sent him a rough pencil drawing. http://straightrazorpalace.com/show-...eld-retro.html. It amazes me what this guy can do with metal. Check out this heavy metal video he has posted to youtube. . He has posted some beautiful razors to music in Youtube. Just search Herrlaca. So bad ass yet what beauty. Big fan of Herr Razors.

ajkenne,
I saw that razor before and have to say that it is absolutely stunning and the most detailed straight razor that I can ever remember seeing.
Congratulations on being the owner of that fine piece.
Because of the spine configuration, I have to ask, how does it strop and how does it handle on the hones?

Pete, the one I own is a classic design Sheffield (the first link) and does well on the hones and is easy to strop like any larger 8/8. He uses great steel and my razor holds an amazing edge. The pictured one in the video may be another issue and I wonder how it could be stropped or honed as well? Not sure who was able to snag that one? He sells a few to SRP members on eBay but has lots of followers in Europe based on his Facebook. I posted his Facebook link on my original post. Shows photos of some of his best work over the past few years. May get another Herr razor at some point as I believe he is one of the best custom Bladesmiths out there today.
