Wow, your experiment is going very well by the looks of it
I just love my W&Bs... they are just incredible shavers... some razor porn for you naughty boys and girls:
WOW - some terrific additions to the Shop!! Thanks everyone and I hope to be back on a regular basis soon!!!
My latest addition to my W&B herd, a 6/8 (a little over actually) with horn scales and "Barbers Rattler" etched on the blade. It needs some cleaning up, but I think it will be a nice one.

Some really nice razors posted in this group. Thanks for sharing. Here are a few of mne.
Them's some good classics you got yourself, Joed.:tu

This thing is burly. Makes my Bokers seem like toys.
Here's an oblique point W&B wedge I just got today, the perspective of the photo doesn't show it though. Looks to be origional horn scales and original pins too, cool...

I tried polishing it up first, and then using vinegar to re-patina it, then sanded lightly to bring out the text. I may or may not keep it like this, I dunno.
Ockam, I like this one you posted. And look at the toe, nice! simple but scary

One more good razor. W&B "American Razor", 15/16.
Sorry I didn't see your post... but thanks a lot Hoglahoo. You are an amazing truth teller: simple but scary... how accurate: she is a really nice blade I get from an ebay auction from a member here some time ago; I really like her curves, but she was my first French point and my first ear cut... :w
I love these razors. Big and convenient.
Those are two great looking razors. Thanks for posting that.
Manah, thanks!
I like that notched blade in the lower left with the light colored horn!
Here is my 8/8" W&B FOR BARBERS USE. (I named him "Butch" today.)
This one was waiting around for a nice custom restoration. I gave it a quick cleaning yesterday (I was bored), and I immediately fell in love with it's old school charm--all natural patina, original horn scales, and brass bullseye pinning. (It has a crack on one bottom scale, but it's solid.)
Needless to say, this one will NOT get any custom features. It's perfect just the way it is. =)
(I've included the before and after photos.)
Thanks,
Christopher
I think that's about as restored as it needs to be. Nice one. :nj
Here's an ornate little wedge in bone.
Sandcountry: I'd just gotten the email that that razor had been relisted, and as soon as I clicked the link to take a look she was gone. Glad a member snagged her. Beautiful blade.
Yeah, it's a bit rough, but I just got it recently. I'll probably keep it around until I start experimenting with re-etching blades. I would be nice to do a full restore and replace the frosted etch:

thats a nice find
I was just wondering if anyone has seen one of these before?

From the end, the mail part of the razor looks like a wedge, but if you look, the spine is /much/ wider than the blade it's self.
I was just wondering if anyone else has come across this before in a Butcher?
You can see the spine (maybe better) in this one...

What do you think?
I've got a concave ground Wade & Butcher that has "Celebrated Rattler" etched onto the blade. I'd put up pics, but she needs a lot of work so she's rather shy now.
I Just bought my first straight, one of these two i just got at auction is a wade and butcher. So i guess im part of the Butcher Shop. Once i get it i will conduct a restoration on her and keep you informed on the new W&B.

Welcome aboard!!! We're always happy to see new members at SRP!
Sunny day here, in the long winter. Hi to everybody!
As you can see, I am new to the forum. I have been exploring this nice club and some "love" for W&B grew in me.. a sort of big respect for those capital letters.. I do not know exactly. During the last days I have been looking for something special for me and now I have some W&B in the mail, flying and fliyng and fllying, a long travel to the sunny Italy. I found a lot of pics in the club: a big help for my choice and evaluation of old blades. Thanks!
..now I feel like a small child, waiting for his toys and with many ideas.. ideas all regarding you, venerated members of the club.. :bow
Indiscreet idea #1: why don't you prepare (YOU! yes! eheh!) a nice wiki page about W&B? or does it exist? ..a page with a general table regarding the shapes of blades, material of "orignal" scales, pins, resources about honing a W&B, etc..
Indiscreet idea #2: why don't prepare an introduction to the club? a short welcome and "how to" become a member. [I would like to join the club; I wait the delivery of my new friends..]. And yes, a small logo or [useless but honored] printable certificate/card for members only!
Now I think it is time for me to :ziplip:. I will come back with my membership petition and some pics.. thank you!
We used to have some W&B T-Shirts floating around. I don't know if they are still available or not.
bj
..just an idea for the signature [#13 is not mine!]
Good start. I think you can do better.
I know: you are a politician! ..eheh.. suggestions? less "II WW"-stile? more color?
Welcome to the Butcher Shop clavichord ! We look forward to seeing pics of your new W&B!
Thank you! Now, after the "Atomic/IIWW", I come back with the "XIX century" project. I wait for my first "thanked".. eheh! .. no, just let me have some impressions..
Better. What else have you got?
Do you think it's easy to be "thanked"? Do you think we just give them out like water?
pshaw!
ok so as not to completely hijack the thread with my silliness, allow me to present you with my FrankenWade'n'Butcher from mslovacek (feel free to thank me):
WOOOW!
I know: you want to stop me.. but :nono:: here you have te last one.
Well I hope you mean the latest and not last. This is getting good.
