It was in original condition, faded red, well-worn, but nice.
This was and still is my favorite combination; beautiful, original, and worn.

9/8 Wade & Butcher For Barbers Use
Here is the alpha male in my collection right now.
Even bigger than my 9/8 George Brittain.
I have since gotten rid of the rust by hand sanding this big monster.
Hope to have it professionally restored one day.
The first 3 are the crappy E Bay pics...Hurray
and the last 2 are lightly sanded and polished with Mothers
Cheers

8/8 Wade & Butcher Tapered Straight with hollow point
Another one of my recent scores. I love the shape of this razor. I have found instances of other manufactures intentionally making this shape of blade but no such luck for W&B yet! There still is a chance that the shape is original though.
The first 3 are Ebay pics. In the last 2 pics the blade has been lightly sanded by me to remove rust, then polished with Mothers.
Thanks

8/8 Wade & Butcher For Barbers Use - slight frown
Here's another meat cleaver in my collection.
I have an affinity for big blades. I like their size and heft.
I have since gotten rid of the scuffs, rust and water stains by hand sanding this big monster.
Hope to have it professionally restored one day.

That is indeed the original shape. They seem to have only been produced for a handful of years at the end of Williams's reign and the beginning of Victoria's. I have a Greaves and a Joseph Elliot. I've seen, besides W&B, Marshes & Co Pondworks and one other I can't quite recall. They can be a bit of a pain to hone, but I love the shape. You can tell it's the blade design because the spine tapers toward the toe.

7/8 Wade & Bucher Hollow Point - satin finish restore
Here's my first attempt at a W&B restore. I was successful because the razor arrived in parts. I don't have a dremel or anything like that at the moment...but what I do have is time, some elbows, some grease and whole lot of sand paper.
So check out my progress. I started at 200 and I think that I netted out around 800.
There was a crude etching of the name Arch that I patiently ground down. Then I polished it with some Mothers.
I think that was 8 hours alone to get that pesky name out. The process has be permanently etched in my mind though.
Cheers

Rather than put them in this club (they aren't W&B after all!) I started a new thread over here with the picture.
