That, my friend, is the HEEL. Not the toe.

I also have a W&B with a very similarly shaped blade - wider at the toe than the heel.
I have no idea of the year of manufacture though - other than it was pre-1890.
I have a Fredrick Reynolds and another no-name blade with the same shape.
It must have been the fashion at some time

    I recovered W&B yesterday. I think that date near 1910-1920. Am I right?Name: SAM_6244.jpg

I think this is a reground W&B. It's now a 7/8 and pretty full hollow. Blade is still stiff like the older grinds though. Honed it up and shaved with it this weekend. Did a nice job.

For your consideration, my Wade and Butcher's

    First up
    The Celebrated Fine India
A beautiful 6/8" Chopper with jimps on both sides of the tang. Probably my favorite blade of all

Next a very old 5/8" near Wedge, early 1800's for sure and a great shaver:

and finally a 13/16" Pure Wedge that is like an Axe head! But a great shaver too. Silent!

    I love my W&B's
