I have observed that most 472's are stainless - Friodur (inox), mine I don't believe is as it is not a Friodur; what does the 472 designation actually refer to then? I am currently bidding on a 72 1/2 that to all intents appears the same as my 472.

Thanked: 4826The 472 has a pattern stamped into the spine. It is unique to that line. There are others with embossed work on the spine but they are different. A 72 1/2 also has a round point. They should be of similar size and grind though. They are a really good brand, they are probably the longest running producer too, which means there are a lot o them out there at reasonable prices.

Didn't realise that there was a thread dedicated to the Dancing twins.
My 1st straight razor was a 78½. Since then I've acquired a 50½ and a 72½ Inox.
I'll take a picture of them some time.Tony

Thanks RD, I am thinking now is a great time for those wishing to acquire one, as there seems to be a wave coming over from Japan.

Thanked: 4826There is a ton on the market from Japan. Some are cheap for a reason. There are also some very good deals to be had. Watch the pictures carefully and ask questions often to make sure you are really getting what you are asking for. I often ask for a measurement at the heel and at the toe. Most are happy to provide an honest answer. There are a ton from Japan for sale in the US too, but same concept applies. Some day soon I will put some pics up here too.

I just picked up this 72 1/2 in a trade. I'm looking forward to taking it for a spin. [emoji1]
