    That's really really nice. Those scales are amazing, but so is the whole razor...

    Hej Björn and welcome to SRP!

    I don't think it's turtle shell, it doesn't look like it + I never saw one with heavy etchings like that, but you never know and I'm no expert, but if you take a needle and heat it in a flame and then try to punch the scales (somewhere it doesn't show, maybe on the inside), if it puncture and have a nasty smell = plastic or synthetic of some kind, if hard and a "toothy" smell prob some kind of natural material. Age ... my guess's around 1950, give or take 10 yrs.

    Thanks for the info mate, I will try the needle thing, will post a picture of the blade when it is cleaned and maybe it is easier to date it, awesome forum by they way

    Wow, sharptonn, nice. How thin is that thin one?! Do you use it? I find my thumb gets in the way with a 4/8...

    Sharptonn: That is a very nice smiling blade. Sweet!!

    I like smaller blades and it's very nimble...very suitable for daily use. I think the 11/16 Engstrom is probably the best razor out of my 7 day razors. Lucky I have 2 of those.
