Cheers Grayman. I know TR Cadman owned the Bengal trade mark from a certain date, but every other Bengall I have has their name stamped on the tang. Just wondering if this pre-dates TR Cadman & Sons or perhaps was even made by someone else?

Good point my best guess is TR Cadman but hopefully someone will come and shed some more light on it

Hi! My first Bengall razor. Very nice shave and condition.
It´s a Swedish Bengall i think.

Very nice Tjarven. What leads you to say Swedish- is there some kind of marking on the other side of the tang? Cheers.

Yes there was maker in Borlänge sweden long time ago who also made Bengall razors, strange but anyway they called "Äkta Bengall" = Real Bengall. I forgot the case to the razor so here it comes. Theres no mark on the other side but have seen other razors markt with Borlänge Maskinaffär.
Currently my favorite razor so far

Thanked: 1587It appears the word "Bengall" was used by many manufacturers, not just Cadman. Even after Cadman obtained the "right" to the word it seems there were many unscrupulous bounders ready to take advantage of Bengall to flog product.
Suavio, if your Bengall is not a Cadman I doubt it pre-dates their rights to the word as the blade shape looks modern-ish to me. We cannot know for sure of course - it's just a feeling I have.

Thanks guys, very interesting information. Not sure why I didn't assume that others would take advantage of a popular brand- no different to today's market really. And of course there's no (legal) reason why an international maker (eg. In Sweden) couldn't adopt the brand as their own.
I'll trust your judgment on the date thanks James, there's a wealth of experience in these forums!

Back on page 6 of this thread Oldengearde posted a link to an old flyer from 1917, from Borlänge Maskinaffär, and it looks like they where the main supplier of Bengal in Sweden, not a maker.
